Joining the advocacy training hold on Pfefferberg in Berlin on 21 of June 2017 in the framework of META, for most of the 15 participants was an experience comparable with a discovery tour.
The term of ADVOCACY is not very common in Germany, but activities considered as ADVOCACY have been proceeded since many years and are a business to deal with for organizations representing or working for disadvantaged people.

Initially, Jochen Butt-Posnick gave a theoretical overview explaining the essential points and steps of a successful ADVOCACY. Good examples from Germany and abroad illustrated the idea and even obstacles. The participants learnt more about such aspects like cycles in politics or effects and additive impact. They discussed intensively about tasks, resources and risks. Finally, small groups were created to work on specific challenges of their organizations or own projects.

On the end of the day, the participants testified the training as a very useful tool for their activities with disadvantaged people in the fields of education, culture, youth support.
