Eleven professionals with long standing experiences in mainstreaming arts in education participated in META ToT - Training of Trainers Course in Brussels, organized by the International Yehuidi Menuhin Foundation, from 23rd to 25th of November 2016.
During 20 hours 5 MUS-E artists (visual arts, dance, music), 3 teachers, 3 project coordinators coming from Belgium, Germany, Italy and Spain had the opportunity to be part of an interactive and participatory training where they learnt about and how to apply the META methodology .
The three keywords of ToT were:
- To Share: opinions, methods, tools among experts from different countries to promote social inclusion through arts;
- To Learn: reflect, discuss, evaluate and learn a new methodology based on META competence framework;
- To Create common sense: raise awareness on META methodology and spread it in the respective countries.
Participants expressed their needs and presented the educational situation in their own countries. After that, participants exchanged tools and experiences in order to improve their professional framework. Theoretical definitions and practical approach were accompanied by exercises, workshops and role-playing games. Thanks to this training, artists and teachers alike are ready to play a decisive role to transfer META skills in EU Schools.
